The Artist's Pen
Gratitude I've worked in the medical field and in education where it was not unusual to meet associates with, shall we say, very unattractive, egotistical personalities. Yet, the stereotypical artist is suppose to be self-absorbed. Guess what? That stereotype, in my experience, has been blown out of the water! Both in California and here in Texas, I've been to art workshops, gallery shows, craft fairs, etc. Overwhelmingly, I have been greeted with open arms, offers of support, and genuine interest in my art. The people on Fine Art America are a good example. They go out of their way to give you praise, help the newbies, and even promote your work. An example is Christi Kraft of Christi Kraft Photography. She features other artists on her Facebook page. She allows them to post links to their websites so if someone that visits her page is interested, they can click over to other artists' sites. I just want to say thanks to Christi (and James, Leona, Sharon) and all the people that have welcomed me into their groups as well as those that have taken time to comment on my work. I hope to get around to each of their websites and post my thanks personally, as time allows. So artists everywhere, keep up the camaraderie...good job all!

Awww! How very kind of you! Thank you, Diana! :)
I agree--the community of artists I have met has been incredibly supportive. It's that much more encouraging when the support comes from those who understand because they're in the same boat.
Art doesn't have to be a competition. Each artist brings something unique to the scene. The goal is for art lovers to find work that really speaks to them, art to which they feel connected. There's no reason we artists can't help that along and encourage one another in the process.
