Artist Bio
After retiring from teaching college biology in May 2009, I moved to Southern California to be near family.  Here, I quickly immersed myself in my life-long love, art. As primarily a self-taught artist, I have spent many years exploring different media, from floral design to pastels to oils. Color and form have always been my inspiration whether designing a floral arrangement or decorating a Christmas tree. I have found that I have a physical need to make beautiful things. The medium itself is not that important and I never tire of trying new methods.

After purchasing my first digital camera in 1996, I realized that I could satisfy this urge to create beauty using photography and computer technology. I loved the “possibilities.” I’ve experimented with many different excellent software programs, but they are only as good as the artist using them. To master these tools takes many years and keeping up with the technology is a goal in itself. To that end, I have attended many fine art photography workshops since arriving in California and I would like to thank the two teachers who have influenced me the most, Joyce Wilson (Brooks Institute) and Bob Killen (Calumet Fine Art Master Class). They both are great photographers and patient, caring teachers. I aspire to take what they have taught me and pursue this intriguing field with the hope that someday I may reach a modicum of their ability and talent.
